santa cruz mountains. >> today is the last day to register to vote in the presidential election. we'll tell you several easy ways you can do that today and we'll share the latest voting numbers. >> a big crash in san francisco has made a mess of the freeway. you can see trying to get to the lower neck of the bay bridge is going to be a problem. we'll tell you more about that as mornings on 2 continues. 7:00 on this monday morning october 24. >> sal, what just happened? >> there was a big rig crash. it looked bad at first. a big rig was underneath a car. but there were no injuries and they were able to get the big rig out of the way and tow the cars. the damage is done when it comes to traffic. it was there for 15 minutes which is kind of an eternity when it comes to the commute. it's already slow on most

mornings and this started out poorly. north bound 101 is backed up beyond the 280 interchange to the lower deck. we are hoping that the crash being cleared out of the way will make it better than it was. it was pretty slow for a time. getting into san francisco, there was a stalled vehicle as well. that's on the bay bridge. if you look at the bay bridge toll plaza it is slower than it normally is backed up for a 30 minute delay as you head toward the city. let's talk about some other commutes. we have a look at the east bay commute, south bound 880 slowing from hey ward to fremont and san mateo commute will be moderately heavy. let's go to steve with the weather. >> thank you. we have cloudy to mostly cloudy conditions. there has been light rain in the santa cruz mountains but we are waiting for this system. there has been in advance into

the san joaquin valley. it's hard to pick up what's coming out of santa cruz mountains. there has been a little bit around morgan hills. highway 17 looks like not much is left but it could be below the radar. there are breaks in the clouds but the breeze has been front and center at 32 to 41 miles an hour. higher elevations have had 50 to 55. you see the lightning strikes but a lot of that is pushing off toward central sierra and nevada. northeast, southeast, oakland airport, 20 miles per hour. upper 50s and low 60s. it is on the mild side due to the cloud cover and also the breeze. light rain has made it in but we are waiting on the system. it will rotate in eventually. there is a lot enhancing the system. a cloudy to mostly cloudy day, breezy and windy with rain

developing but not until later this afternoon or this evening. >> thank you. rain is in the forecast and that has people in the santa cruz mountains worried. people in the area are really watching out for the rain. >> reporter: you heard steve talk a moment ago. the rain can cause serious concerns to areas burned out late last september and into october. one fire burned nearly 500 acres. now people near the fire zone are worried that rain could cause mudslides. some work has been done to prevent serious erosion. crews could have to put another million dollars worth of work in to secure the soil. a lot of the areas burned has been cleared of trees and brush. now the concern is that the rain can wash away the homes that firefighters worked so hard to save. teams of scientists did tour

last week and said if the area gets a normal amount of rainfall, it should be okay. if we see intense storms going forward, it could be bad for the homes that are left in the area. that's one of the concerns. there could be a major concern going forward as those storms do roll into the area. >> christian, thank you. election day is fast approaching. we are just two weeks away now. look at the signs. today is the last day to register for the november 8 election. here are the latest voting numbers and what people are saying about the election. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, dave. we are in front of coffee shop. one man we recently spoke to called the presidential election a reality show. he said that he didn't even want to vote. but so far in santa clara

county, 10% of registered voters have already voted. the way you can register to vote today since it is the last day, you can go to your local registrar's office and do so in person or register online. make sure you do it before midnight. in santa clara, 850,000 people have registered to vote. that's a higher number than four years ago. election officials are predicting a high voter turn out, 80 to 85%. we asked people if they're registered and what's motivating them. >> more the measures than anything else. it's frustrating just to see those two battle it out and sling mud. i don't know what else to tell you. >> reporter: you are still going to vote? >> definitely. >> reporter: you are registered, but are you going to vote? >> no, i am not. >> reporter: why? >> neither of the candidates are worth voting for, and none of the actual issues or

propositions right now are anything i am interested in. >> reporter: the associated press is reporting democrats are seeing strong early voting numbers in key battleground states such as north carolina and florida. several reports are suggesting donald trump's rhetoric that the election is rigged may discourage turn out among republican party but trump's supporters say those reports are far from the truth. there is still time to register to vote. if you have one of the forms lying around at home, you can fill it out. make sure when you put it in the mail that it is post marked for today so you will be able to count and register on election day. >> thank you. both donald trump and hillary clinton are hitting the campaign trail hard in the battleground states with election day so close. >> we're not giving up. we know we can win this. we are certainly not exceeding to the same chattering class that's been wrong about donald trump for about a year and a

half. >> even as most polls show clinton's lead growing, the trump campaign says they're still comfortable trump can win. hillary clinton's campaign is so confident they're focused on not just winning white house but overturning republican control of congress as well. >> we are running a coordinated campaign, working with gubernatorial senate and house candidates. this is not over yet. >> hillary clinton campaigns today in new hampshire. donald trump continues a campaign swing through florida where early voting starts today. analysts say trump needs to win florida in order to have any hope for winning on election day. donald trump has received his first major newspaper endorsement. las vegas review journal wrote an editorial describing trump as flawed but better than clinton. the paper says trump will bring much needed change to washington. the review journal is owned by a major republican donor. some hillary clinton

supporters in raleigh, north carolina organized a pant suit flash mob in her honor. you see red, green, beige, all the colors of pant suits. about 200 people wearing pant suits participated in this flash mob. a man from north carolina who is now a professional dancer in new york city led the group in the dance to "can't stop the feeling." last month the same man organized another pant suit flash mob for hillary clinton. for the latest on the race as well as a link to voter registration information you need to get done by today, run to ktvu.com. 7:08. some survivors of the deadly bus crash in palm springs are now talking.

scene. there is no word on a motive. so far, no arrests have been made. this latest shooting comes after seven men were shot and injured near 77th and bancroft in oakland saturday night before midnight. while the police were investigating the shootings, the officers themselves had to duck when more shots were fired. no officers were hurt. all the victims are between 27 and 45 years old. at least one has been released from the hospital. no arrests have been made. despite the violence, oakland police say violent crime is down in the city. police have been using a strategy called cease fire since 2012. it focuses on reducing shootings and building relationships with people in the community. police say the strategy has been working. >> identify individual who are at risk of being shot or being engaged in violent crime. we then reach out to them, offer them resources, offer them a way out, and let them

know if they continue to engage in violence, they will be held accountable by the community, law enforcement, district attorney's office as well as the u.s. attorneys office. >> police say last year, oakland's violent crime rate was the lowest it's been in ten years. 7:13. in case you missed it, there is a different way for drivers to get between the eastern span of the bay bridge and -- island. the west bound freeway ramps opened early. the new ramps are on the right side, are longer, make it easier to merge into traffic. old off ramps and on ramps on the left side are shut down. also open, new bike and pedestrian path on the bay bridge. a lot of people have been waiting for that. cal trans opened the final section yesterday. it connects the east bay to yerba buena island. there is no parking at the new end point but there is parking

at the oakland end of the path. kevin durant is still getting to know the bay area and is turning to his fans for help. he recently went on redit and asked for suggestions on restaurants, shops, other sites he should visit. he got a number of responses and even checked some over the weekend. one photo shows him enjoying some bubble tea. he revealed that he likes italian food and barbecue seasoned as his favorite tv show is house of cards. warriors play their first game of the season tomorrow against the spurs at oracle arena so he will be busier starting then. as he continues to explore his new home, what do you think kevin durant should do to get the bay area experience? >> he's got to come to the clark house first. we will take care of him. >> i would love that. >> let us know what you think. post a comment on our facebook

ktvu. he's got to sit on the set with us. kevin, listen. >> if you insist, dave. we'll have kd in here. good morning everyone. i like the way you are thinking. let's go to the bay bridge because we've had a bad morning today getting into san francisco. we had a stalled car on the upper deck of the bay bridge. it was taken off rather quickly but the damage was done. the metering lights are slow at the bay bridge and getting into san francisco it's been slow. they were also clearing an accident east bound 80 approaching the 80 split. that's slowing traffic in san francisco on north 101. east commute is getting slow. 880 in front of the colosseum is not a bad commute. i know someone said k.d. wanted to take in a raiders game. that's also a good suggestion. let's talk about the rest of the 880 commute. hay ward to fremont, slow traffic in both directions as you drive in this corridor.

as you head to the silicone valley, traffic on 101, 280, 85 is already slow into the west valley. let's bring in steve. >> i would recommend a raiders game. a lot of fun. >> cloudy skies, breezy to mostly cloudy. some rain is falling in the santa cruz mountains. it is more of a drizzle light rain. some activity went right up the san joaquin sacramento valley to the sierra. the main center is beginning to move inland. it's hard to get this to show up. it's coming right out of the radar sites but it's pretty low level stuff. some of it is winding down. upper 40s in the mountains. it looks like things are done in the sierra. there were lightning strikes for a while. southeast at the ache land

airport, 20. we had gusts to 30 or 35 for some. s.f.o. earlier had gusts to 35 or 36 so it's been pretty breezy to windy. we have low 60s and mid 50s for others. everyone is pretty close. 48, 58 truckie into reno. this is a mild system for them, not a snow producer. the system looks vigorous but it will take a while before it works its way in. i have reports of windy conditions and light rain but the main front is still off the coast. the cold air is going north with the apparent low but there is enhancement west southwest of the system. eventually it will spread in. two systems, monday, tuesday. most rain will be to the north and we'll see it sag south late tonight and tomorrow. it will lift out of here for wednesday and parts of thursday. the secondary system is from the west southwest and that looks like everybody will be

painted in on the rain. the rainfall could be decent here. everyone is pretty close. two inches in the next five days. there is a system coming in tonight and tomorrow. wednesday it lifts out. i will get out of the way so you can see. by thursday see how this comes from the west southwest? that could be a good wind producer. there is more on the way it looks like for sunday. we are setting up a wet pattern this week. upper 60s and low 70s on the temps. temps are a moot point. it will be a series of rain later tonight and early tomorrow tomorrow. >> thank you. >> you're welcome. more creepy clown sightings. this time the suspects have a gun. in 15 minutes, the popular san francisco mall where it happened and the investigation underway. >> they signed up for national guard and received thousands in signing bonuses. up next, the reason many service members are being told to give that money back.

investigation. >> french authorities are starting to clear a make shift refugee camp. the camp has been home to 6 to 8000 people. they were hoping to get to britain. now they're given a choice. apply for asylum to stay in france or go back to the countries where they came from. more than 1000 police officers are on site. so far everything has been peaceful. authorities will start demolishing the plant tomorrow. iraqi and kurdish troops are moving closer to mosul. isis is doing everything it can to hold onto mosul. ash carter visited iraq to see the progress. he says isis is still a dangerous enemy for the iraqis and the 5000 american troops assisting. it's expected to take weeks or even months to drive isis out of mosul which is iraq's second biggest city. it's also home to more than 1 million people.

back at home, almost 10,000 california national guard soldiers are being told they have to repay enlistment bonuses they signed for ten years ago. according to the l.a. times, pentagon is asking for the money back after audits revealed over payments by california national guard. faced with a shortage of troops because of wars in iraq and afghanistan, those who enlisted were offered a signing bonus of $15,000 or more. the pentagon says audit revealed some soldiers received thousands more than they should have. many current and retired guard members are being asked to repay some or all of their bonus. the california national guard says it does not have the power to wave the debt but welcomes any law passed by congress that would do. cities across california are increasing minimum wages. workers or advocates are asking for something more. they say workers deserve fair

wages and fair scheduling. the group says part time workers should be offered full time positions before more part timers are hired. they want work schedules more predictable and say they should be published at least two weeks in advance. they add workers should be able to decline schedule changes on short notice. employers say this can back fire. one example is managers not filling shifts to avoid paying penalties for last minute schedule changes. the question, are sexual assaults happening more than they're being reported? up next, startling information about several bay area colleges. >> investigators are searching for answers after a violent tour bus crash near palm springs yesterday that killed 13 people. what may have led the bus driver to slam into the back of a big rig. >> this monday is not great when it comes to the bay bridge or san francisco. but here on the golden gate bridge, it's not a bad commute heading south. >> mostly cloudy skies, some

getting into san francisco. we had a couple of earlier incidents and they're gone but you are wondering why is it extra slow? some problems that are gone. san francisco north bound 101 -- oh, i see it. kevin is putting it into focus. thanks. north 101 is slow but south bound is getting slower as well, towards ceasar chavez. i don't know. it's a little bit too rough of a monday start for me. anyway, let's look at the commute now on 101 north bound in san jose. it's been slow as well. on this monday all these commutes, they're not giving us any breaks. 7:31. back to the desk. >> thank you. investigators say it appeared speed may have been a factor when that tour bus crashed near palm springs yesterday killing 13 people and injuring more than 30. ktvu's alex savage is in our

newsroom with the search for answers and some incredible stories being told by survivors. >> reporter: really unbelievable. many of the passengers were asleep at the time of the crash and woke to screams and saw a horrible scene on board. this tour bus crash was one of the deadliest accidents in california history. later today members of the national transportation safety board will be arriving in southern california to help out with this investigation. the crash happened just after 5:00 sunday morning along west bound interstate 10 near palm springs. that tour bus was headed back to l.a. after taking the passengers to a casino near the desert town on saturday night. chp slowed traffic in the area for construction and investigators say the bus slammed into the back of a big rig at a high rate of speed in the construction zone. 13 were killed, all sitting in

the front of the bus. last night, friends and relatives of the crash victims came together for a vigil in l.a. right at the spot where that bus picked up its passengers. according to l.a. times, this bus is owned by usa holiday based out of southern california. the company has just that one bus and one driver who was killed in the accident. >> the first thing i thought is oh, my gosh, i wonder was elias driving because i don't know anyone else. i found out he was. my heart goes out to him. >> chp says the bus is older and doesn't appear to have seat belts. that's also the word from doctors. most of the people they're treating flew across the bus and were injured. they also don't believe this bus had a data recorder either which will make it even more

difficult to figure out exactly how fast the driver was going. the l.a. times says this bus did pass a federal inspection last year. 31 passengers again were injured in the crash. they're being treated at various hospitals in the palm springs area. authorities say it's challenging trying to identify all the people killed and the survivors. they say it could take several days. a lot of people didn't have id and a lot of their belongings were tossed all over during the crash. >> what a story. alex, thank you. >> okay. police investigating the first homicide of the year. a man shot and killed yesterday outside the hyatt regency hotel near sfo just before 6:00. it happened in the driveway of the hotel near the parking garage. police think the man may have been visiting a hotel guest. >> upon arriving on scene,

observed a male subject suffering from gun shot wounds. aid was rendered at the time. however ultimately the victim succumbed. injuries. >> the police think this was a targeted shooting and was not a random act. in san jose police are investigating the 40th homicide of the year. a woman was killed early yesterday. a shooting in front of a home near interstate 680 and south king road. police say the woman and a man were either sitting or standing in a driveway when one or more shooters opened fire. the woman died at the hospital. that man is expected to survive. later on mornings on 2, we will be speaking live with the mayor of san jose. 7:35. we'll go to san francisco where a bizarre incident is under investigation at the west field mall involving three men with creepy clown masks and a gun. a security guard saw the men yesterday afternoon in the emergency stairwell of the west field mall. police say two of the men were holding clown masks. one had a gun.

they ran out of the mall to market and powell before police arrived. the security guard was not hurt. sonoma county, deputies are looking for a baby that is missing and could be in danger. the 7 month old was reported missing yesterday morning. he has brown hair and gray eyes. investigators say he could be with his mother, 35 year old hannah ashley, who does not have custody. it's believed they're in a silver 2005 subaru forester with california license plates. when crimes like sexual assault happen on college campuses do most students find out? according to a study, the answer appears to be no. ktvu is at uc berkeley. tell us about the findings. >> reporter: a study done, now that it is light out, we have had a chance to talk to students. most of them have told us they

would like to know any time there is a sexual crime on campus. they would like to be alerted and informed about it. that's not always what happens. that's because by law universities only have to alert students if there is immediate danger to the student body. that may explain why there is such a gap between the number of times a sex crime is reported and the number of times students find out. the news group looked at the reported sexual assaults and sexual offenses at five major campuses in the area and found that stanford and uc berkley appeared to have the biggest gaps. in 2015, stanford had 39 cases of reported sexual offenses but police only sent one alert to the students. uc berkeley had 45 and students received 11 alerts. in most the suspects were will are in custody and that's why

they didn't send alerts. some say it's important for students to be aware of the sexual assault even though there is no imminent danger. this is based on numbers from 2015. since, there is more of a focus on informing students as a default. at uc berkeley last week the fraternity council voluntarily suspended social activities because of two reported sexual assaults that happened at the fraternities earlier this month and some students say they remembered getting the alerts about it. campus police did send out two alerts for the incidents. maybe the times are changing and they seem to be informing students more often. >> thank you. 7:38. a concord city council committee meets for the last time before they make a recommendation to head off a housing crisis in the city. for the last six months the committee has heard testimony and studied more than 300 pages of evidence saying concord has been hit hard by sky rocketing

rent increases and evictions. rents have gone up 60% in concord over the last six years. average rent is $1700. community members and faith leaders will hold a prayer vigil before the council meeting. they'll be calling on members to pass a moratorium on rent increases. antiwar activist tom hayden has died. he died yesterday in santa monica at 76 from complications related to a stroke he suffered last year. he made headlines in the '60s with activism, marriage to jane fonda, trips to north vietnam during the vietnam war. he served for nearly two decades in the california state assembly and senate. 7:39. early voting is underway around the bay area. coming up in 20 minutes, the important deadline you need to know about today. >> first, the 49ers lose their 6 6th straight game in front of a very sparse home crowd. how fans are feeling about the

threatening. the wounded officers fired back and hit vans at least twice but he was able to jump into a police car and drove away. investigators say he drove to a nearby mobile home park where he shot and injured a woman and stole her car. again, he is still on the loose. a former bay area software company executive charged with conspiracy to commit insider trading and money laundering. 39 year old christopher salis is the former global vice president of sap at the company office in palo alto. salis is approved of giving confidential information about an acquisition to two men in indiana who used the information to make a profit from the deal. those men are also facing federal conspiracy charges. the oakland raiders are on top of the afc west after beating the jacksonville jaguars 33-16 yesterday. raiders never trailed. they led 20-6 at half. the final score of the first

half came after this 56-yard pass from derrick car to michael crabtree. he went down at the two yard line and came back. three plays latter he got a touchdown. the raiders are 4-0 on the road for the first time since 2000. they're staying in florida this week. they're going to play tampa bay buccaneers sunday. the buccaneers just gave the 49ers their 6th straight loss. they beat them yesterday 34-17. the 49ers actually had a 14-0 lead by the end of the first. they were the only two touchdowns they would score. they were out scored by tampa bay 34-3 the rest of the game. colin kaepernick had a rough one. he completed less than 50% of his passes and threw an interception in the third. 49ers have a bye this weekend. they will be hosting the new orleans saints on november 6. there were not a lot of people in the crowd at levi

by fire. what are they saying? >> reporter: that rain is not expected to hit until later. when it does, there is some worry that the areas that were burned in late september and october could be hit again. one fire burned about 4400 acres and burned from late september into october, about two weeks. fire destroyed 12 homes and now more are in danger as rain moves in. big storms could lead to mudslides and as many as 35 homes and nearly a dozen bridges could be in harm's way. some work has been done to prevent serious erosion throughout this rainy season. crews could have to put another million dollars worth of work in to secure the soil. the area that burned has been clear of trees and brush and the major worry is rain can wash away the homes that firefighters worked so hard to save. teams of scientists toured the area and said if the area gets a normal amount of rainfall, things should be okay. crews are worried with big soaking storms, the kind that

oakland police are investigating shootings after a silent weekend including one fatal shooting. the latest was last night after 7:00. police found a man in the

street minutes after he had been shot. he was pronounced dead on the scene. this comes after seven men were shot and injured near 77th and bancroft. you see police responding to the scene. while they were investigating the officers had to take cover when more shots were fired. none of the officers was hurt. all the victims are between 27 and 45 years old and at least one has been released from if the hospital. no arrests made. oakland police say violent crime is actually down in the city. police have been using cease fire since 2012. it focuses on reducing shootings and building relationships with people in the community. police say the strategy has been working. >> to identify individuals at risk of being shot or being engaged in violent crime. we then reach out to them, offer them resources, offer them a way out and then just let them know if they continue to engage in violence, they will be held accountable by the

l.a. from a casino. the chp says that traffic in the area had slowed for overnight construction. investigators say the tour bus slammed into the back of a big rig at a high rate of speed. 13 people were killed. all of them were sitting in the front of that bus. [ singing ] >> this was the scene last night in l.a. friends and relatives of the crash victims came together for a vigil at the spot where that bus picked up its passengers on saturday night. according to the l.a. times, this bus is owned by a company called usa holiday which has just one bus and one driver. that driver was killed in the accident. the paper says the bus did pass a federal inspection last year. one passenger who survived this crash described the scene on board. >> i flew up, hit the seats,

knocked my jaw out of place. i jumped out and went around and i seen a lady outside. then i go to the driver. he was still alive. >> 31 passengers were hurt in the crash. they're being treated for a variety of injuries at a couple different hospitals in the palm springs area. authorities say that identifying all of the victims who died and the survivors could potentially take days because a lot of people were not carrying i.d. on top of that, a lot of the belongings were strewn about on the bus from the force of the crash. chp was saying this morning that this is an older bus, didn't appear to have seat belts that worked, probably doesn't have a data recorder, one of the so called black boxes. >> that means it will be more challenging for them to figure out how fast the driver was going. >> very sad.

>> alex, thank you. 8:33. police in burlingame investigating the first homicide of the year. a man was shot yesterday morning outside the hyatt regency hotel in sfo. police think the man may have been visiting a hotel guest. >> upon arriving on scene, observed a male subject suffering from gun shot wound. aid was rendered at the time. however ultimately the victim succumbed to his injuries. >> police think this was a targeted shooting, not a random act. in san jose police are investigating the 40th homicide of the year. a woman was killed early yesterday in a shooting. the woman and a man were either sitting or standing in a driveway when one or more shooters opened fire. the woman died at the hospital. the man is expected to survive.

in a few minutes we will be talking with the mayor, no doubt talking about the violence in the city. to the north bay where sonoma sheriffs deputies they say is missing and could be in danger. the 7 month old was reported missing yesterday. the boy has brown hair and gray eyes. it could be with his mother, 35 year old hannah ashley, who does not have custody of the boy. it's believed they're in a silver 2005 subaru forester with california license plates. a new study says police are not alerting students every time a sexual offense happens on a college campus. >> reporter: most of the students we have talked to say they would like to know every time a sexual assault happens on campus and the students say they do pay attention when uc berkeley police send crime alerts. most students got two alerts last week letting them know

about two reported sexual assaults that happened the weekend before. there are federal guidelines that talk about this. campus police have to alert students when any crime including rape or sexual assault poses a threat to the student body. there is discrepancy when it comes to determine what is an immediate threat or not. the news group looked at the numbers of reported sexual assaults at five major campuses including san francisco state, san jose state but the study found stanford and uc berkeley had the biggest gaps when it came to the number reported and the number of times the campus alerted the students. in 2015, stanford had 39 cases of reported sexual offenses and they only sent one alert. uc berkeley had 45 reported crimes and sent out 11 alerts to students. >> it's good to know what's happening at their school every time so they can be aware of

what's going on. >> i think it's good to know. it gives us an idea of the safety of our campus. >> reporter: some campus officials pointed out that too many alerts might make students numb to the problem. victims advocates say it's good to keep students informed so they're aware of the problem to maintain an idea of their general surroundings and to protect themselves in the future. >> thank you. 8:37. for the first time in more than two years, national gas prices are rising. aaa says national average price for a gallon of regular is $2.22 a gallon, up a penny from a year ago. it's the first time in 27 months that gas prices are higher than they were on the same date the year before. industry experts expect gas prices to keep going up for at least the next couple weeks. as often, the bay area is not following the pattern of the rest of the country.

victims particularly in domestic violence. the situation yesterday was more likely a gang homicide. what we know is that one homicide is one too many. there is a lot of work that we have to do. we are working with a lot of faith based groups and community organizations to see how we can get into the community to get to our kids before the gangs do. we are expanding our jobs program for youth living in gang impacted neighborhood. we will get 1200 teens their first jobs this year. those are the efforts we know that are preventative that help us get in front of the problem. >> let's talk about your existing police force. over the past several weeks we reported on a number of them living in rvs close to the department so they didn't have to do a long drive home and back when on short turn around. do you have concern that the men and women being worked or perhaps over worked might say i could take a job in a small community and make the same or better money? >> not just concerned about it, we know it's happening. it has happened for a few years

about that in just a second. first i want to check wall street. the opening bell from earlier, good corporate earnings helping things out this morning. we are taking a look at the markets. the dow nasdaq and s&p 500 are all up, about a half of a percent for dow. you see they're up almost 88 points. it is the same for s&p 500. nasdaq is gaining almost a full percentage point. a lot of technology earnings are coming in. 10 mobile, also better than expected earnings reports. smart phones, smart thermostats and toys are toyed to the huge hack attack. the group claiming responsibility for a hack attack that affected big name sites such as twitter, net flix, paypal friday say they used internet enabled devices. analysts say it's become easier to launch cyber attacks by

organizing networks of connected devices to create a massive bot net. friday's jammed servers of a company based in new hampshire. the group warns this is just a dry run of a bigger event that will happen soon. they threw a monstrous 1.2 trillion bits of data every second at that company's servers servers. a lot of people who work retail have to work thanksgiving day but not employees of rei. for the second year in a row, they will not work on black friday. rei says if people still want to shop, they can do so on the website. you can place an order but their online employees won't be working either. nothing will be processed or shipped until the next day. rei wants customers and workers to take a day and play outside. two soft drink giants
